Mrs. Nettie Mae Morrison Zeagler, 89, formerly of Beaufort, recently of Columbia, went peacefully home Saturday, August 15, 2015, surrounded by her family. Born in Bulloch County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Milton Morrison, Sr. and Nettie Mae Elizabeth Moore Morrison. Nettie was a talented seamstress, dedicated homemaker, and loving caregiver to her family and the many dear friends by whom she will be deeply missed.
Nettie Mae loved her family dearly. She looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren throughout her life. Three generations fondly remember the generous bags of cookies she prepared for each to take with them after a visit "home". She gave as much joy and comfort as she got from time spent with those she loved.
Nettie Mae was a strong woman. She was strong in her faith in God; strong in spirit and character. She faced her burdens and the loss of so many loved ones with grace and dignity. She was the last of her siblings remaining, the last parent, the last grandparent, and the last great grandparent. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will remain with us.
Nettie is survived by sons, W. Ralph Zeagler (Beth) of Lexington and David Lawrence Zeagler of Columbia; grandchildren, Tammy Zeagler Dillon (Robbie), D. Scott Zeagler, Tracey Zeagler Feary, Karen Edwards Sams, Richard Faust, Jr. (Kathi), Ronald Dwight Faust (Brenadette), Dawn Rachelle Faust Mathers, David L. Zeagler, Jr., Tabitha Zeagler and Robert Leonard Zeagler; more than 15 great-grandchildren, including T. Nicole Dillon Rusinyak (Dan), Gena Michelle Dillon, Robert Cody Dillon, all of Columbia; Ashleigh Nichole Faust, Cameron Alexander Faust, Andrew Lane Salter, Lauren Nicole Salter, Eric Benjamin Salter, all of Atlanta, GA; Robert Anthony Edwards, Kayci Nicole Grim, Charles Jack Yorkovich, all of Indiana; Daniel Curtis Lynn, Marissa Anne Lynn, Chelsea Elizabeth Lynn and Kierstan Alexis Mathers, all of Beaufort. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Dwight Zeagler; son, Ira Leonard Zeagler; daughter, Gracie Zeagler Kenny; and by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
The service for Mrs. Zeagler will be held 1 o'clock, Saturday, August 22nd, in the Chapel of Copeland Funeral Service, 1 Copeland Drive, Beaufort, SC, with The Rev. Gene Rowell officiating. Burial will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family.
A special thanks is given to Heartland of Columbia and Lighthouse House Hospice for their love, care and support.
