Dr. Calvin Williams Todd, 76, of Columbia, SC, was called to his eternal home on May 26, 2023. He was born in Gastonia, NC on October 13, 1946, and was the son of the late Charles Bonner and Jean Williams Todd.
As a 1969 graduate of Erskine College, Calvin received the H.M. Young Ring. He earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1972 from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1985, he received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Erskine Seminary. He faithfully ministered in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church for fifty years, which included pastorates in Memphis, TN (1972-1977); Clover, SC (1977-1984); Mayesville, SC (1984-1988); and Fayetteville, TN (1988-2014). Upon his retirement in 2014, Calvin moved to Columbia, SC and continued his pastoral ministry on a part-time basis in Columbia, SC; Lancaster, SC; and White Oak, SC.
As an Eagle scout, Calvin had a great love for the outdoors. With a passion for bird hunting, he never tired of sharing and listening to stories of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed stories of his grandchildren's activities but his greatest joy was loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and it was this Savior who gave him his passion for telling the greatest of all stories through the preaching of the Word of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, William White Todd. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, the former Lisa Oates of Rock Hill, SC; a daughter, Rachel Hudson (Berry) of Lexington, SC; a son, Sam Todd (Louise) of Chapin, SC; five grandchildren, Todd Hudson, Louisa Todd, Campbell Todd, Charlie Todd and Flora Todd; and a brother, Charles Todd (Judy) of Cookeville, TN.
