Carolyn Beckham Lee Kerr, 89, of Columbia, passed this life and entered into eternity on Thursday, March 28, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Willie (Bill) Lee and Victor Kerr. Born September, 30, 1923, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Carrie Beckham.
Mrs. Kerr attended Blythewood High School, where she was the first "Miss Blythewood". A member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, she was affectionately known as "Granny". Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior, her church, and her family. Granny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by many.
Survivors include her children, Charles B. Lee (Debbie) of Blythewood, SC, Tommy Lee (Barbara) of Wren, GA, Bobby Lee of Columbia, David Lee of Danville, KY; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers, Reggie and Terry Beckham; sisters-in-law, Doris Beckham, Joyce Beckham Ayers, and Nina Sharpe. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Billy Carol Rainwater; son, Ronald Lee; daughter-in-law, Pamela Lee; grandsons, Chad Lee, Cody Lee; great granddaughter, Tayler Dunaway; sister, Emily B. Jackson; brothers, Gemelle, Richard, Charles, Bobby Lee, Raymond, Lawrence, and Rod Beckham.
A funeral service for Mrs. Kerr will be held at 2 o'clock Monday, April 1st, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. James W. Thompson, III officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Memorials may be made to the church at 1920 Cedar Creek Road, Blythewood, SC 29016.
