Clifton "Clif" Davis Bodiford, 74, of Columbia, died Saturday, April 28, 2018. Born in Columbia, SC, on July 25, 1943, he was a son of the late Henry Loyd and Theo Davis Bodiford. A graduate of Columbia High School, Clif served in the US National Guard before earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of South Carolina. Clif's career in accounting began at Clarkson Harden & Gantt and continued with Arthur Young, Ernst & Young, Arthur Anderson, his own firm, Clifton D. Bodiford, CPA, and finally retiring from Scott & Company. Throughout his career, he was a trusted friend and advisor, serving on boards and providing guidance and advice to many in the business community.
Cliff and his family attended First Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher and later became a member of Shandon Baptist Church. He was a member of the Columbia Rotary Club. As a graduate of USC, he loved watching football and everything Gamecock.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Connie Peake Bodiford; daughter, Missy Buchanan (Davis); son, Dave Bodiford; grandchildren, Sarah and Davis Buchanan; and a sister, Patricia Reeder (Buddy).
The family will receive friends from 10 until 12 o'clock, Wednesday, May 2nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A private family burial will be held following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC 29201, or to the Salvation Army, 3024 Farrow Road, Columbia, SC 29203.
