Our beloved Dorothy Cecilia Rennix passed away suddenly on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the age of 80 years old, in Columbia, South Carolina. Dorothy was born in St. Kitts, West Indies, to the late Robert J. Marsham (Bobbie) and Evelyn Mary Farrell Marsham, on July 12, 1943.
Dorothy attended Sandy Point Junior and High School in St. Kitts West Indies. In her mid-twenties ,she relocated to St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, where she married the love of her life, her beloved husband, Hilton McDonald Rennix on January 29, 1969. Dorothy and Hilton resided in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, where they raised 7 children including 2 beloved nephews.
They later relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina, in the early 2000's, until God called Hilton home on August 10, 2015. After her husband's passing, Dorothy continued living in Fayetteville, North Carolina, until May 2022, when she relocated to Columbia, South Carolina.
Dorothy had many jobs during her lifetime. More so, an amazing gift of bringing art to life. Her creativity showed in everything she did. She enjoyed decorating, sewing, cooking, and floral designs. Dorothy's love of designing floral arrangements inspired her to become an entrepreneur. This passion led to the opening of her own flower shop, Blossom of Elegance.
Dorothy cared for others and gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it. When family and friends came together, she cooked her famous Johnny cakes, banana nut bread, stewed salt fish, tarts, sorrel, ginger beer and much more. Dorothy was very much involved in the Fayetteville community, where she showed her talent by joining the Caribbean American Connection. Dorothy displayed her talent by participating in the planning of the group activities like carnivals, brunches, and tea parties. Dorothy did not believe in wasting anything and would prepare a meal from almost anything, which was a gift from her mother.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, dancing, playing card games, and dominos. As well as talking with her siblings and other family members. We all knew we could find her watching MSNBC news and yelling back at the television. Her laughter had a way of filling a room and putting a smile on the faces of those around her.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Venus Bowlding, Ronald Rennix, Belinda Moore, Gwenneth McGee, and Faye Rennix; two nephews that she held near and dear to her heart as her own children, Anthony Berkeley and Daniel Berkeley; stepchildren, Lindon Barnes, Cecil Barnes; mother-in-law of, Deborah Rennix, Ishmael Moore, Michael McGee, Sancia Berkley; sister-in law, Syslvia Loban; siblings, Cassie, Charles, Enid, Joseph (Sam) (Virginia), Jane, Dosity, Fredronia, Vincent (Angie), Valentine (Brenda), and Lionel; grandchildren, Latisha (Gerald Smith), Romel, Raynard, Tyrell, Angelica, ArJay, Tiana, Travis, Dimitri, Dante, Malachi, Alesha, Joshua, Terrancia, Millicent, Terrance, Darnell, Latoya, Nicholas, Danika; great-grandchildren, Darmarcus, Damari, Eden, and Ambrielle; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she held close and dear to her heart; to include Johanna, Cheryl, Clarissa, Soraya, Rukuya, Alena, Velinda, Birdget, Marsha, and many close family and friends living in the U.S. & St. Thomas; including Lorna Mully-Marsham & Family, Roach Family, Doreen, and many more family members.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Rennix; stepsons, Terrance Warner, Aubrey Carey; and brother, James Marsham.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousin's, in-Laws and devoted relatives and friends, she was loved, and she loved them all.

I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
A funeral service will held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. A private burial will take place at a later date in her hometown in St. Kitts.
