Mr. Douglas G. Milliman, 81, of Columbia, died Friday, January 8, 2021. A native of Lansing, Michigan, Mr. Milliman was the son of the late Ella Lenore Gordon and Douglas L. Milliman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Jahnke.
Mr. Milliman was a graduate of Michigan State University, where he was a wrestling champion. He received his master's degree at the University of South Carolina. He was a retired Naval Officer, and worked as a transportation planner in Columbia. He was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Blum Milliman, of Columbia; a daughter, Laura K. Milliman of Buckingham, Virginia; a son and daughter-in-law, David Milliman and Natalia Igronova, of Odessa, Ukraine, and Columbia; and daughter, Lannie Milliman, of Mandeville, Louisiana. He also had three grandchildren, Ella and Alex Gwartney of Mandeville, LA, and Katia Kobiuak of Odessa, Ukraine.
A graveside service for Mr. Milliman will be held 12:30 o'clock Sunday, January 10th at Beth Shalom Arcadia Lakes Jewish Cemetery with Rabbi Jonathan Case officiating.
Everyone is invited to attend but will be asked to abide by the state's recommendations of wearing masks and social distancing to provide a safe environment for all.
