Esther Tinsley Scurry, 95, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 13, 2015. Born in Easley, SC, on March 31, 1920 she was a daughter of the late Jones Frank and Mamie Owens Tinsley. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and worked as an accountant for both state and federal government.
Survivors include her son, Ralph (Patti Grace) Scurry; sisters, Leona Dill, Elizabeth Ford, Willie Mae Hester; and her brother, Neal Tinsley. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Franklin Scurry, Sr.; and her son, Thomas Franklin Scurry, Jr.
A graveside service for Mrs. Scurry will be held 11:30 o'clock, Thursday, September 17th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Jerry Freeman officiating. The family will receive guests from 4 until to 7 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, at the home of Ralph and Grace Scurry, 321 Bookman Mill Road, Irmo. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family.
