Evon Rebecca Prevette, 85, of Hopkins, died on Sunday, January 2, 2022 in her home with family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed life, family, and working as a professional seamstress. Evon and her husband, Andrew ran a successful upholstery business for many years. After retirement, she devoted her time to caring for her grandchildren and assisting in other family businesses. Born in North Carolina, on June 17, 1936, Evon was a daughter of the late James Wilburn and Lillie Mae Gilley Prevette.

Survivors include her children, Brenda H. Shannon, of Hopkins, Ronnie Harrell (Rosemary), of Johns Island, James Harrell, of Hopkins, and Terry Harrell, of Hopkins; grandchildren, Tina Shannon, Melissa Ryan (Barry), Sean Shannon, Amanda Watkins (Punky), Brian Harrell, and Sean Harrell; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven siblings; and Andrew Harrell.

The funeral service for Mrs. Prevette will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at noon. Burial will follow the service in Elmwood Cemetery.
