Frances Elizabeth Ruff Kelly, 85, of Irmo, passed away Friday, August 23, 2013. Born July 10, 1928 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Silas Walter and Ola Elberta Frick Ruff. A longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church, Frances enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was devoted to her family and friends by whom she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Kelly is survived by her daughter, Linda Faye Koon and husband, Kenneth of Irmo; sons, Robert Clayton Kelly, Jr. and wife, Martha, of Meridian, TX, Donald Eugene Kelly and wife, Tammy Marie, Henry David Kelly and wife Debi, all of Irmo; grandchildren, Rachel Stauffer, Rebecca Bishop, Robert C. Kelly, III, and Robyn Kelly; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Silas Ruff and his wife, Carolyn, of FL. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton Kelly, Sr.
A graveside service for Mrs. Kelly will be held 4 o'clock, Sunday, August 25th at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1320 Salem Church Road, Irmo, with The Rev. Mitch Houston officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4 until 6 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
