Frank V.C. Volin, 93, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Born May 31, 1930, in the Bronx, New York, he was a son of the late Sidney and Ida Kirschbaum Volin. Mr. Volin attended high school in New York and later honorably served his country in the United States Army. He relocated in 1957 to South Carolina from New York City after accepting a position from Organic Chemical Company. Mr. Volin enjoyed a career as an engineer that spanned over 45 years. In addition to Columbia Organic Chemical Company, he would be employed for DuPont, Allied Chemical, and the State of South Carolina. Mr. Volin was a dedicated member of the B'nai B'rith Jacob Congregation.

Mr. Volin had a brilliant mind and enjoyed working with his hands. He loved tinkering in his workshop and was well known for his ability to fix any and everything. Mr. Volin was passionate about RC airplanes and flew with the Fort Jackson Flyers Association. Although he had many hobbies, he especially enjoyed servicing microscopes and did for more than 40 years. His greatest pride in life was his family and Mr. Volin took advantage of every opportunity to show his appreciation towards them.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Barbara Siskin Volin; children, Sidni Yelmen (Ron), Hal Volin, and Andy Volin; stepchildren, Gina Bruck and Hugh Bruck, grandchildren, Josh Yelman, Hannah Yelman, Melissa Yelman, Adam Volin, and Jessica Volin, as well as his step grandchildren, Imri Bruck, Maira Bruck, Shailee Bruck, and Namir Bruck. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Adele L. Volin, who passed in 1987.

The graveside service for Mr. Volin will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, September 22nd, at Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery, 714 Blanding Street, Columbia with Rabbi Jonathan Case officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
