George Gregory Clifton, 68, of Elgin, died Saturday, June 10, 2023. Born July 10, 1954, in Columbia, he was a son of the late George Ira and Mary Agnes Clark Clifton. Mr. Clifton was employed as a commercial fisherman for nearly three decades. His greatest love was being on the ocean, whether he was boating, fishing, crabbing, or working. When he was on land, he could be found enjoying time with family and friends.

Mr. Clifton is survived by Robin R. Dow, his companion for 34 years; nephew, David Clifton; aunt, Clarice Clifton; uncle, Jerry Freeman; and his cousins, Curtis and Allan Clifton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Clifton and his uncle, Denny E. Clifton.

A burial at sea ceremony will be held privately. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
