CMSGT George Denver Houck, US Air Force (Ret.), 96, of Columbia, died Thursday, April 20, 2017. A son of the late Jacob and Betty Greer Houck, he was married to the late Julia S. Houck. After serving 32 years in the United States Air Force, George was an over-the-road truck driver for 35 years, until the age of 88. He loved playing golf and could "shoot his age" until health issues forced him to stop playing at age 90.

Surviving are his daughter, Georgann H. Wilson; and sister, Carol Goodman (Lowell). In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Colleen Calloway.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11 o'clock, Tuesday, April 25th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
