Ilse Mennicke Sammon, 89, of Columbia, died July 23, 2014. Born in Mucheln, Germany on May 5, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Paul Mennicke and Else Nolte Mennicke. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, was known as a dear sweet lady, and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Alvin Watson) Wilson of Saratoga Springs, NY, Linda Roberts of Columbia, Michaele (Taj) Ghosheh of Columbia, and Patricia Sammon of Columbia; a sister, Hannah Keller of Germany; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerard J. Sammon, a son, Gerard Paul Sammon; and a daughter, Theresa Sammon.
The funeral service for Mrs. Sammon will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, July 25th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Rabbi Jonathan Case officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery at Elmwood. The family will receive friends at the home of Mickey Ghosheh following the service.
