Jane Elizabeth Marshall Hammond, 90, of Columbia, died Saturday, January 27, 2018. Born February 1, 1927 in Hampton, VA, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Lewis Marshall and Elsie Goodson Marshall. Mrs. Hammond retired from Rockwell Manufacturing to care for her mother. Her favorite place on earth was Edisto Beach, where she enjoyed fishing and crabbing. Family and friends were two of the most important things in her life. She was a member of Spears Creek Baptist Church for more than 60 years, where she was in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and enjoyed the ladies bible study group, as well as participating in the WMU.

Survivors include her daughters, Patricia A. Jones, Tina Mayers, and Judy Tucker (Robert); sons, Jerry Ray Hammond and Tony Lee Hammond (Toni); 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Hammond; three sisters; and one brother.

The funeral service for Mrs. Hammond will be held 3 o'clock, Wednesday, January 31st at Spears Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Sweet officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Tuesday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
