Jarrod Heath Lanier, 54, of Blythewood, died Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born March 25, 1967 in Lexington, NC, he was the son of Ferne Hartley Cole and Jackson Gray Lanier.
Jarrod was a loving father, son and husband. He was a skilled mechanic in the automotive industry for many years, and had a passion for fixing and making things work. He loved the outdoors, and since his childhood enjoyed spending days on the waters of Lake Murray. Jarrod loved race cars and NASCAR, and was a diehard fan of Dale Earnhardt. He loved motorsports, whether it was ATVs, motorcycles, or jet skis, Jarrod never missed an opportunity to ride and have fun. As much as he loved a new adventure, he has was just as happy to sit around a table or campfire trading stories and shooting the breeze. He was known for a quick wit and often wicked sense of humor, and loved to make others laugh.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rhonda M. Lanier; sons, Jarrod Heath Lanier, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA, and John Furman Walker, III (Amber) of Lexington; grandchildren, Eva Graysen Walker, John Eadyn Walker, and Brayden Keith Medley; brother, Christie Gray Lanier (Beth) of Blythewood, as well as his stepmother, Ramona Lanier. Jarrod was preceded in death by his stepfather, Chris Cole and his grandson, John Graysen Walker.
A private memorial service will be held at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
