Emily Joann Correll, 66, of Columbia, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Born July 6, 1952 in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late George D. Daley, Jr., and Leola Daley.

Joann retired from civil service at Fort Jackson and was a former member of Capital View Baptist Church. She had a fierce love for her daughters and adored her grandchildren who lovingly called her JoJo. She grew up on Charlotte Street in Charleston, playing cowboys and indians. She had such love and compassion for people and never knew a stranger. Her home was always open to everyone, especially to the soldiers at Thanksgiving. When she met her best friend 64 years ago, Carolyn Werkheiser, she knew that they would be lifelong friends. They have fond memories of dancing on the back porch listening to the Beatles and acting like John Lennon. And they enjoyed their trips to Folly Beach. She loved her Aunt Josey, her diet Coke with a straw and yellow roses. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, singing and talking on the phone.

Survivors include her daughters, Stacy K. Wren (Johnny), Jaime C. Gremillion (Lee IV); six grandchildren, Sarah, Aidan, Joel, Seth, Lee V and Hastings; sister, Jane Turnage, and her best friend of 64 years, Carolyn Werkheiser. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Dennis R. Correll; brothers, George William "Skip" Daley and William Eugene "Sonny" Benton.

The service for Joann will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, December 8th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Diana and Melanie with Amedysis Home Health of Lexington for their kindness and compassion shown while taking care of our mother.
