John Virgil Stack, 63, of Columbia, died Friday, July 13, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Claude and Elizabeth Asman Stack. John was retired from Harsco Track Technologies where he worked for 38 years as a leadman supervisor and was a lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.
John was a graduate of Eau Claire High School, Class of 1968. While at Eau Claire, he was a member of the Rhino Squad and played on the football team which held three consecutive state championships. John loved his grandkids, fishing, the beach, and was an avid Clemson fan. His favorite words were "Tigers Rule!".
Survivors include his sons, Johnny (Terri) Stack of Lugoff, Adam E. (Liz) Fields of Westminster, Eric T. Stack of Prosperity, Austin T. Stack of Prosperity; his grandchildren, Taylor Stack, Lindley and Lana Fields, Trustan Stack; his brothers, Claude (Margie) Stack, Jr. of Lexington, Joe D. Stack of Columbia; and one sister, L. Diane Stack of Columbia. John was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Mr. Stack will be held 2 o'clock, Monday, July 16th at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Bredholt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Sunday at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
