Judy Lee Sitton, 73, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully, August 4, 2016. She is now reunited with her husband James "Jim" R Sitton who went home February 8, 2016 and her two sons James "Brian" Sitton and Victor Ronald "Ronnie" Sitton. Born November 30, 1942 in Columbia to the late Amos and Tinnie Aline Brooks, she was the youngest of six children. Jim and Judy would have been married 57 years this month.
Judy was known as a strong no-nonsense kind of woman who cared deeply for her family with a strong work ethic. Her daughters would often say that she could run circles around them and if you wanted someone to tell you like it is without sugar coating, she was that person. Even in her last days it was apparent that she was one tough lady.
Judy was also known for many talents to include fixing just about anything, sewing, and cooking. If you're were in the Blythewood area, you may have visited her restaurant appropriately named "Judy's" co-owned and operated with her daughter Gena. She was also an integral part of the family owned and operated business, Anchor Industries, with her daughter Carisa and formerly Jim, Brian and Ronnie. She also shared Jim's passion for horses and leaves behind Red and Dealy as well as her newest love Bandit (a maltipoo).
Judy is survived by daughters, Gena Banks (Greg) and Carisa Buff (Billy); eleven grandchildren Aaron Banks, Justin Sitton, Hayden Banks, Brandon Sitton, Cody Sitton, Brett Sitton, Cassy Buff, Brittany Buff, Lakin Sitton, William Buff and Jamie Buff; and brother, Carl Brooks. In addition to her parents, husband and sons, she was preceded in death by brothers, William "Bill" and Gerald Brooks and sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Jernigan and Jeanette Brooks.
Services will be 2:30 o'clock, Monday, August 8th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia with The Rev. Chris Hanley and Dr. Benjamin Newman, Jr. officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 5:30 until 7:30 o'clock on Sunday, August 7th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park following the service.
