Julia Karen Harrington, 57, of The Heritage at Lowman in White Rock, died Monday, December 8, 2014. Born December 18, 1956, in Columbia, she was a daughter of Julia "Loubie" Whitaker Harrington and the late William Lucas Harrington. Karen graduated from Spring Valley High School and attended Presbyterian College. She worked for the Marriot Corporation in Atlanta. Karen was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, loved art, especially painting, and enjoyed tennis and running.
Survivors include her mother, Loubie Harrington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane H. and John Correll, and Rebecca H. and States Clawson; nephew and nieces, William States Clawson, Rebecca Candler Clawson, Julia Kinzie Correll, and Leslie Harrington Correll; and special friends, Patty Furey, Sherry Sellers, and Jennifer Hutto.
The service for Ms. Harrington will be held 3 o'clock, Wednesday, December 10th, at The First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, with The Rev. L. Craig Wilkes and The Rev. David H. Lauten officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Atrium of Jackson Hall. A private interment will precede in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Lutheran Hospice and the Heritage at Lowman, especially Dr. Tom Brown, for their care of Karen over the past 2 1/2 years. They would also like to extend a special thanks to First Presbyterian Church, especially the pastoral care staff, for all their prayers, support, and acts of kindness.
