Kenneth Irvin Queen, 77, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 22, 2013. Born February 5, 1936, in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late J.D. and Avie Brooks Queen. Kenneth was a banker in the Columbia area for over 32 years, a member of the Dentsville Masonic Lodge #398, as well as a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. He was the greatest dad in the whole world.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Ruby Mars Queen; sons, Kenneth C. Queen of Blythewood, Rusty (Terri) Queen of Columbia, Tim Queen of Simpsonville; daughter, Susan (Henry) Stamper of Louisburg, NC; sisters, Sandra (John) Williams of Rock Hill, Jackie Holmes of Charlotte, NC, Beth Queen of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Brittney, Kelsie, Cameron, Bailey, Mason, Cheyenne and Jayde Queen, Corey and Hailey Stamper; and dear friends, Kenneth and Erlene King, Fletcher and Betty McDuffie. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Queen.
The funeral service for Mr. Queen will be held 2:30 o'clock, Wednesday, September 25th, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N Trenholm Rd, Columbia, with The Rev. R. Joseph Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from noon until 2 o'clock.
