Mrs. Mae T. Chestnut's Obituary

Mrs. Ossie Mae T. Stone Chestnut, 92, formerly of Myrtle Beach, Orangeburg and Charleston SC, died Tuesday, August 05, 2014. Born on January 21, 1922, she was the only child of the late John Harold and Carrie Dennis Thompson.
Always vivacious, beautiful, and young for her age, she started the church food ministry at Surfside Episcopal Church (now Church of the Resurrection). She oversaw this ministry for many years, feeding multitudes of people. Her life was joyfully spent helping others. She loved the beach, having lived there for over 40 years. She moved to Columbia in 2003 to be closer to her family, and remained there until her death.
She is survived by Carolyn and Bob Lewis, Barbara and Lamar Edge, Faye and Tony Baggiano, William Edward (Dusty) and Teresa Stone, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by husbands, W.E. (Bill) Stone and Emory Elmon Chestnut, as well as a daughter, Geri Stone Inabinet Cooley, and an infant son, W.E. Stone, Jr. She was also predeceased by an uncle and aunt, Lawrence and Lodusca Dennis Thames of Kingstree, SC.
The graveside service for Mrs. Ossie Mae T. Stone Chestnut will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, August 7th, at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg, SC, conducted by her granddaughter, The Reverend Tony Baggiano-Wilson. The family will receive friends following the service.
