Obituary

Marie Tisdale Byrum, 61, of 1655 Hwy. Church Rd., Elgin, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in her home surrounded by love ones. Her perseverance and inner strength fought a courageous battle of breast cancer. She was born in Mandevilla, Texas on April 07, 1957 and was the daughter of Hiroko Fugimoto Tisdale of Elgin, SC and the late Henry Lee Tisdale. She was also predeceased by a nephew, Myott Lee Bennett.

Marie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved being a homemaker and working in her yard, gardening flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed reading, cooking, various crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren and loved her fur babies, Charlie and Optimus. She will be fondly remembered for her beautiful handmade crochet blankets and quilts she unselfishly gave to many family members and friends. Some of her greatest joys were vacations with her husband and the "thrill" of traveling on the back of their Harley. She was a member of Seacoast Church-Columbia, SC. Marie will be missed dearly by family members and all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Rubie Cleo Byrum, Jr.; two sons, David A. Byrum and wife Jennifer of Lexington, SC; Kevin H. Byrum and wife Megan of Elgin, SC; two sisters, Lucille Incavo and husband Tony of Salem, Oregon; Irene Rado and husband Bob of Keene, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Katelin, Kaleb, Myott and Miriam Byrum; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Brooke Howdyshell; two nieces, Lauren Wolfson and husband Derek of Berkeley, CA; Asha Hoover and husband Brendan of Malden, MA.

The service for Mrs. Byrum will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, January 30th, at Seacoast Church, Columbia SC, with Pastor Matt Benton officiating. Burial will follow the service in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church in the Cafe prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank SCOA, Dr. Sommers, Gail, Theresa, Donna & Denise for their loving care and to Hospice.
