Marie S. Paschal, 74, of Elgin, died Thursday, April 16, 2015. Born October 27, 1940 in Sumter she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Griffin and Sudie Pack Simpson. She was a member of Midway Independent Methodist Church and loved crafts. Marie graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina, and retired from USC after 29 years as an accounts receivable manager.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Leo R. Paschal; sons, Michael Leo (Angelika) Paschal of Sanford, NC, Martin Keith of Elgin; daughter, Cynthia P. (Harold) Ritchie of Ninety Six, SC; stepdaughter, Diane P. Meetze; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, B. Keith Simpson of Tega Cay, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Berg Simpson.

A funeral service for Mrs. Paschal will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, April 19th at Midway Independent Methodist Church with The Rev. Jerry Hacker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Saturday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
