Marion Edward Watson, 90, of Columbia, formerly of Conway, SC, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Born April 24, 1927 in Conway, SC, he was a son of the late Maxey Pierce Watson and Grace Haselden Watson. A diligent worker from an early age, he served in the US Navy during World War II, enjoyed a career in the grocery industry until his retirement in 1989, and was an avid golfer and gardener.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers (Pete, Buddy, Billy, Cap'n and George) and sister (Imogene Williams).

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Carolyn Best Watson; sons, Marion Edward, Jr. (Sheila Norris) and Jeffrey Owen (Mary Ann Yoder); grandsons, Rion (Lindsey), Brett (Shea) and Jeffrey; three great-grandsons, Miles, Zac and Max; and sister, Mary Sally Watson Woody of Conway.

A graveside service will be held at 4 o'clock on Monday, October 2nd at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1000 Hwy 544, Conway, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 140 Stoneridge Drive, #210, Columbia, SC 29210.
