Martha Ann Sander McGown, 90, of Columbia, died on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Born in Memphis, TN, on February 26, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George Joseph and Ruby Dean Countess Sander.

Survivors include her daughters, Martha McGown Lopez (Oscar Armando Lopez), Margaret McGown Arthur (David Lee Arthur); sons, Joseph Curtis McGown, Dr. Steven Taylor McGown (Sara Jane Griffin), and Dr. Andrew Thomas McGown (Elizabeth Chak), as well as grandchildren, Steven Taylor McGown Jr., John Curtis Sander McGown, Jesse McLane Arthur, Abigail Sutton Arthur Edens (Rob Edens), Ann Cole Arthur, Martha Ann Sander McGown, and great-grandson Robert Campbell Edens, Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Countess Sander Arnett, and by Dr. Henry Curtis McGown, III.

Her career was as an interior designer, but her passion was her Faith and Family. Her legacy and love for The Lord will have an eternal impact on all who met her.

The service for Mrs. McGown will be held at 10 o'clock, Saturday, December 11th at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia. The family will receive friends in Jackson Hall of the Church following. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
