Michael Anthony Mohar, 64, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 24, 2022. Born March 7, 1958, in Fort Bragg, NC, he was a son of the late Vladimir James Mohar and Georgine Eichinger Mohar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, SFC Steven James Mohar, US Army (Ret.) and his sister, Cynthia Mohar.
Michael graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1976 and then enlisted in the US Navy. He would honorably serve his country for seven years, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. Following his honorable discharge, Michael went on to work with the Federal Government and used his skills learned in the Navy to become an expert with computers. He most recently worked as an IT Specialist with Wells Fargo Bank.
Survivors include his nephews, Michael Surber (Chelsea) and Joseph Meade; his niece, Josephine Meade; as well as a multitude of friends and extended family.
The graveside service for Mr. Mohar will be held at 1 o'clock, Monday, August 1st at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 11:30 until 12:30 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223.
