The funeral service for Jane Missouri Ashley Riddle will be held 2:00 o'clock, Sunday, December 23, 2012 in New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Rd, Columbia. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Michael L. Townsend will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church, prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Born in Columbia, Mrs. Riddle was the daughter of the late Ernest P. Ashley, Sr. and the late Nonie Ross Nelson Ashley. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and a lifelong member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church / New Heights Church.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernest V. Riddle and Annie S. Riddle of Pomaria, Ronald E. Riddle and Rita A. Riddle of Swansea; one daughter, Terry R. Smith of Columbia; one brother, Paul J. Ashley, of Columbia (Bonnie); five grandchildren, Travis J. Riddle, Sr. (Shantel), Karen R. Dale (Robert), Kimberly S. Abbott (Killian), Angie Thomas and Erica Thomas; five great-grandchildren, James Baxley, Travis Riddle, Jr., Ariana Riddle, Matthew Abbott and Jacoby Dale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Riddle was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Travis Obie Riddle; brothers, Ernest P. Ashley, Jr., Kenneth J. Ashley, Edmond L. Nelson, Sr. and John D. Nelson, Jr.; and sisters, Zola Nelson Murden, Beatrice Nelson Armstrong, and Mary Nelson Hawley.

Pallbearers will be Paul J. Ashley, Travis J. Riddle, Sr., Robert A. Dale, Killian Abbott, Ernest P. Ashley, III, Michael Gillis and Kenneth Scott Ashley.
