Patricia "Pat" Floyd Shearin, 76, of Columbia, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018. Born on July 29, 1942 in Green Sea Floyds, SC, she was the daughter of the late Felton Arnold and Geneva Grainger Floyd. She was affectionally known as "MaPat" to her beloved granddaughters. Pat was an expert at needlepoint and loved to collect antiques especially Flow Blue China. Pat had a large collection of cookbooks and special recipes

Pat spent many years with her husband, Edwin and daughters, at their "Mom and Pop" Family Motel in Ocean Drive, North Myrtle Beach. She took pride in the family-oriented business, serving churches, students, Society of Stranders, - and especially in hosting several generations of families over many years. She served as the perfect host in her home and motel. Pat was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and a member of the Bible Survey Sunday School class.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Edwin Shearin; daughters, Grainger Shearin Parrish (Mark) and Dr. Patrice Shearin (and furbabies); grandchildren, Olivia Frances, Adeline Jewell and Riley Neil Parrish; a brother, Jim Carson Floyd; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many of her coastal friends in North Myrtle Beach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Floyd McGowan.
She worked in several churches in Columbia, many years at the Department of Health and Environmental Control, and finally retired from state government with the Legislative Council at the State House. She was recognized by her co-workers for her strong work ethic.
The service for Mrs. Shearin will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, October 1st, in Boyce Chapel of First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia, with The Rev. Richard Humphries officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Ellis Hall. A private family burial will precede the service at Bush River Memorial Gardens. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
