Patrick John Wirt, 69, of Columbia, died Thursday, April 14, 2016. Mr. Wirt was born July 28, 1946, in San Bernardino, California to the late Frank and Evelyn McPherson Wirt. He grew up in Louisiana and Arkansas; graduated with a BA degree from Louisiana Tech University, and lived most of his adult life in Columbia. Patrick served 30 years in the US Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. Upon retirement he worked for Palmetto GBA as a Fraud Analyst.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kimberly Lan Wirt of Columbia, SC; daughter, Amanda Wirt of Columbia, SC; son, Frank Wirt (Shan) of Honolulu, Hawaii; and three brothers, Michael, Daniel and Christopher Wirt.
A graveside service Mr. Wirt will be held 11 o'clock, Wednesday, April 20th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made in his name to the Vietnam Veterans of America, 8719 Colesville Rd #100, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
