Paula Kay Shuping passed away, July 7, 2017. She was born in Salisbury, NC, on July 13, 1946. Paula was a daughter of the late William Paul Shuping and Marion Miller Shuping. Paula graduated from Columbia High School in 1964. She later earned a degree in education from Winthrop College and a Masters in History from the University of South Carolina. Paula taught high school at the Department of Juvenile Justice at John G. Richards School for 30 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her constant companion, Springer Spaniel, Jude.
Paula is survived by her brother, Perry (Rosemary) Shuping; sister, Patti J. Shuping; as well as nieces, Norma S. Bourne, Leigh S. Watson; and nephew, Will Shuping.
A memorial service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, July 16th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Pastor Paul Wollner officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock.
