Mr. Peter Ford, 81, of Irmo, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Born December 15, 1931, in Meriden, Connecticut, he was the son of the late John Randolph Ford and Gladys Hiller Wendover.
Mr. Ford, a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, received his Doctor of Music degree from Stanford University. He was the church musician for several churches in the Sumter and Sumerton area, including St. Mathias Episcopal Church. Mr. Ford taught music at the University of South Carolina, Sumter campus from the 1970's to the early 2000's, and he was a loving father who was devoted to the needs of the community.

Survivors include his sons, Erik (Karen) Ford, and Hyllaerye (Lina) Ford; granddaughter, Madeline Ford; brother, Barry (Kathy) Ford. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Foster Ford.

A memorial service for Mr. Ford will be held 7 o'clock, Saturday, December 29th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hyllaerye Ford, 257 Caedmons Creek Drive, Irmo.
