Ruby Gibson Rexroad, 86, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 15, 2013. Born in Lone, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Bessie Osborne Gibson. Ruby worked as a dental assistant for Dr. George Lippard, Jr. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, and the church's ladies group.
Survivors include sons, Ron (Pattie) Rexroad of Charleston, Roger (Patricia) Rexroad of Columbia, Jay Rexroad of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Roger Junior (Sabrina) Rexroad, Tonya (Gary) Hallman, John Knox, Sarah Jane Rexroad, Alexander Mort Rexroad, Melanie Anne Rexroad; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Opal Moore and Lula Day, both of Ohio, Betty (Shirley) Rader and Lena (Robert) Durbin, all of Kentucky; brother, Sammy (Debbie) Gibson of Wisconsin; special friends, Marie Sturgess, Helga Harris, Jack and Betty Cook, and Dr. George Lippard, Jr.; as well as many extended family and friends, including the St. John Neumann church family. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar J. "Rex" Rexroad; four brothers; and 2 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Rexroad will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Rd, Columbia, Noon, Thursday, September 19th, with The Rev. Fr. Frederick F. Masad officiating. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 11 o'clock.
