S. Dean Dadisman, 87, of West Columbia, died Saturday, June 30, 2018. Born on October 25, 1930, in Jefferson, GA, he was the son of the late Howard Dean and Mary Lou Moore Dadisman.
A retired textile engineer, Mr. Dadisman was a graduate of Jefferson High School and Georgia Tech. After beginning his professional work at Jefferson Mills, he spent most of his career on the management team of the Milliken Company's New Holland Mill in Gainesville, Ga.
Mr. Dadisman was a committed Christian and member of First Presbyterian Church-Columbia. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and maintained a lifelong interest in government, civic life and sports. He served for many years as member and chairman of the Gainesville Planning Commission.
In their later retirement years, Mr. and Mrs. Dadisman moved to Laurel Crest in West Columbia to be near their daughter and her family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Harvey Dadisman; daughter, Lee Hess (Craig) of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Samuel Hess (Jessie), Andrew Hess and fiancé, Casey Shelton, and Caroline Hess; as well as his brother, Carrol Dadisman (Mildred) of Tallahassee, FL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dadisman is preceded in death by his sister, Anne Collier.
The service for Mr. Dadisman will be held 2 o'clock, Tuesday, July 3 at Laurel Crest, Three Rivers Room, 100 Joseph Walker Drive, West Columbia. The family will receive friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
