Spiros went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2023, at 74 years of age. Son of the late Olga Levidy Deliyannis. He passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Ila, and children: Allisson Blankenship, Nathan (Janice) Woods, Christopher Deliyannis, Peter (Monique) Deliyannis. 14 grandkids and 3 great grandchildren. Nieces, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
His life was full of love and affection for his family. He was well known by many in the community through his kindness and friendly demeanor. He was liked by many and loved by all. He never knew a stranger. He was an avid fisherman, animal lover, and Dallas Cowboys fan.
Spiros became the man of the house at an early age of 14 to help support his mother. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran serving 2 tours in the Vietnam War. After his service in the military, he worked numerous jobs before becoming a business owner with his lifelong partner, Ila. Spiros retired in Columbia, South Carolina.
One of his favorite sayings that he lived by and taught others to live by is: "It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice."
Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 o'clock, Sunday, July 30th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The graveside service for Mr. Deliyannis will be held 10 o'clock Monday, July 31st, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC.
