Susan Elaine Fugate Chavis, 52, of Blythewood, passed away, Tuesday, November 06, 2012. Born November 9, 1959 in Columbia, she was a daughter of Ellen Smith Fugate and the late Oren Fugate. Susan loved life and adored her children. Her love of animals turned into a career as operator of Blythewood Kennels.

Survivors include her husband, Byron K. Chavis; a daughter, Kristi Ellen Chavis; a son, Ronnie Oren Chavis, all of Blythewood; her mother, Ellen Fugate of Blythewood; brother, Robin Thomas Fugate of Columbia. In addition to her father, Susan was preceded in death by a son, John David Ray, II; and a brother, Robert Fugate.

A memorial service to celebrate Susan's life will be held at 12 o'clock, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11 o'clock.
