Susie Peavy Wingard, 93, of Columbia, died Wedensday, December 4, 2013. Born October 17, 1920 in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Lillie Sanders Peavy. Susie retired as a supervisor with Stone Manufacturing. She was a longtime member of Eau Claire Baptist Church, and was a very giving and loving person.

Survivors include daughters, Nita W. Meek of Columbia and Sally W. Sharpe of Columbia; son, Jefferson C. Wingard of Anderson; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson C. Wingard.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wingard will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, Dec. 6th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, with The Rev. James A. Goudelock. Burial will follow at Pisgah Church Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Babcock Foundation, 2725 Banny Jones Ave, West Columbia, SC 29170 or to the Carolina Children's Home, 3201 Trenholm Rd, Columbia, SC 29204.
