Thomas Jefferson Slimp, 45, of Columbia, died Monday, December 10, 2018. Born September 1, 1973, at Moncrief Army Hospital at Fort Jackson, SC, he was a son of Robert L. Slimp and Ursula E. Slimp. He was raised in Columbia and educated at Hammond Christian Academy and Liberty University, where he majored in political science. He lived most of his life in and around the state, whether in Charleston, Augusta, or Columbia. He worked for the last few years and most happily at BW Clark, Inc., where he was an inside salesman of electrical equipment. As a teenager, he was an avid and gifted baseball player, lettering in baseball all four years of high school; throughout his life he was an amateur meteorologist and was fascinated with politics.

He is survived by his father, the Rev. Robert L. Slimp of Columbia; brothers, Louis Slimp (Terry) of Glendale, CA, and Stephen Slimp (Cindy) of Meridian, MS; nieces, Caroline Elizabeth Slimp of Meridian, MS, Susannah Rose Slimp of Clearwater, FL, and Mary Olivia Slimp of Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ursula E. Slimp.

The funeral service for Mr. Slimp will be held 10 o'clock, Saturday, December 15th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, with the Rev. Bryan F. Bult officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery.
