David "Pete" Samuel Blume, 79, of Blythewood, died, Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born June 26, 1933 in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Elbert Blume and Gladys Carroll Blume. Mr. Blume a US Army veteran was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen Blume; daughter's, Deloris (Lynn) Medlin of Blythewood and Cathy (Michael) Collum of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons, Samuel (Jeannie) Blume and Terry Blume, all of Blythewood; sisters, Peggy (Jim) Jeffcoat of Blythewood, Louise (Del) Tremble of Lexington and Gloria (Herb) Hobgood of Winnsboro; a brother, Larry (Geraldine) Blume of Grey Court, SC; grandson, Dustan Medlin of Blythewood; step-granddaughters, Gina Akey and Mandy Stafford; as well as four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blume was preceded in death by a sister, Estelle Martin.

A funeral service for Mr. Blume will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Pastor Eli Rojas officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Mullis Road, Blythewood. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
