Leila Gates, 92, died in Columbia on February 15, 2014. Born in Columbia, SC, she retired from the Chaplain's office at the Dorn VA Hospital. She was a faithful member of Covenant Women's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Columbia.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy (Coleman); two granddaughters, Christie (Geoff) and Melissa (boyfriend, Josh); and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Eden.

Shives Funeral Home will be in charge of the private burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A Memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday, February 17, 2014 in the chapel located in the mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park, after which the family will greet friends.
