Mr. Ralph Gordon Desso, 73, of Columbia, died on Sunday, July 24, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC in 1948, he was the son of the late Gordon Henry and Lois Sloan Desso. At the age of 21, he joined the Army and served his country during two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return to the States, Ralph worked in the nuclear and construction industries. Ralph retired from those industries several years back, but never quit working for others. Ralph was always willing to help anyone in need.
He was passionate about Harley Davidsons and his bike club. He was a 45-year member and beloved brother in the Hawg Ridin' Fools MC where he was affectionally called "King Ralph" because of his huge presence and influence in the HRFMC. Ralph was also an enthusiastic bicyclist, loved NASCAR and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Survivors include his brother, Henry Desso (Debbie); niece, Lori Desso Noble; nephew, Tony Desso (Kristina); great nephews, Justin Noble, Matthew Noble, AJ Desso and James Desso. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The service will be held at 1 o'clock, Saturday, August 6th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12 o'clock. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
