Sherry Diane Hale Clower, 70, of Columbia, died on Saturday, November 19, 2022. Born in South Port, NC, on December 16, 1951, she was a daughter of Ralph Lee and Etta Mae McCall Hale.
Mrs. Clower was a graduate of Dentsville High School and loved animals, fishing and spending time on Lake Wateree. She retired from AFEES after 32 years and deeply missed her husband since his passing in 2020. She was especially close to her mother, and they often referred to each other as Lucy and Ethel. Together, they enjoyed shopping and spending time with each other. Her pride and joy was her son, Tommy and she was a devoted mother to him.
Sherry spent her last weeks being lovingly cared for by her sister-in-law, Rhonda and enjoyed meals prepared by her brother, Jimmy.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Thomas (Tommy) Benfield; step-son, Kevin Clower (Amy); step-grandchildren, K.C Clower and Makenzie Clower; siblings, Deborah Alcorn (Darrell), Patricia Shannon (Dicky), Jimmy Hale (Rhonda) and Kathleen Cook (Billy). She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold "Jim" Clower.
The service for Mrs. Clower will be held at 11:30 o'clock, Wednesday, November 30th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will immediately follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock at the funeral home.
