MSG Thomas Francis Hogue, US Army, Ret., 78, of Columbia, died Thursday, August 9, 2012. Born in Corning, New York on September 27, 1933, he was a son of the late John Leo and Louise Strasser Hogue. As a twenty year veteran of the US Army, MSG Hogue served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He later earned a degree in criminal justice and was a security guard at Richland Mall.
Survivors include his wife, Helga Thieme Hogue; daughter Linda (Wayne) Cowart of Hopkins; sons, Robert (Teresa) Hogue of Rock Hill, Thomas (Kathy) Hogue of Elgin; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Mary Kay (Vince) Rock of Charlotte, NC; and various extended family members in New York and Germany. In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Hogue; and brothers, Jim and Jack Hogue.
The funeral service for Thomas will be held at 11:30 o'clock, Tuesday, August 14th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Diane Parker officiating. Burial will follow at 1 o'clock at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 o'clock.
