Tony R. Henson, 50, of Elgin, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014. Born April 30, 1963 at Ft. Gordon, GA, he was a son of Ray Henson and Estie Nichols Henson. Tony retired as a sergeant from the Forest Acres Police Department.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Ellen Henson, daughters, Tiffany Ann Henson Divers (Ben), Tracey Nicole Henson, Step-Son, William A. Floyd III (Candace), grandchildren, Wyatt Divers, Savannah Hinson, Waylon and Abigail Floyd, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tony was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Sue Henson.

Mr. Henson's family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 o'clock, Saturday, January 18th, at West Union Baptist Church, at the corner of Union Rd W and Carter Rd, Young Harris, GA, with The Rev. Wayman Lovell and The Rev. Stuart Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Henson will be placed in the church at 3:00 o'clock, Friday afternoon, where the family will greet the friends. The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Dr, Ste 301, Cayce, SC 29033.
