1SG Edward Adam Caba, Jr., US Army (Ret.) loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2024, at his home in Columbia, SC. He was born in Westfield, MA on September 10, 1948.
He was predeceased by his father, Edward Adam Caba, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Caba; his sisters, Cheryl Polopek and Lucille Suprenant; his wife of 49 years, Lynn McCabe Caba; children, Edward Caba III (Amanda) and Rebecca Williams; his three precious grandchildren (TJ Williams, Anna Caba, and Jaxon Williams), and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed was a 27-year Army veteran serving both stateside and overseas. Ed served in Vietnam and was a Purple Heart recipient. He also received numerous commendations and medals during his military career. Upon his retirement, he started a second career at Chick-fil-A where he was loved by co-workers and customers alike.
Ed "Fella" Caba was a faithful member of Spring Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of Faith Foundations Life Group and the First Impressions Greeting Team. He enjoyed his Tuesday night dinners with the men at church while their wives had Bible Study. Ed had many stories he loved to share about his time in the military, his children and grandchildren, and Chick-fil-A. He was a blessing to everyone who crossed his path and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 4 until 6 pm at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1st at 12:30 pm at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 91 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223 with the Rev Blake Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at 2 pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia SC 29223.
