    Mrs. Alicia P. Freeman

    September 21, 1963 - April 17, 2022

Alicia “Ali” Pizzuti Freeman went home to be with our Lord on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Born on September 21, 1963, she was a daughter of Nicola Dominico Pizzuti and Ruth Miller Pizzuti. Ali graduated from Irmo High School and attended Midlands Technical College. Gifted with an aptitude for technology, she started her own computer training company and also worked in customer relations for a local law firm. Ali’s life was an active one with much of it spent serving her beloved Lord volunteering with meal ministries to the elderly and teaching three-year-old Sunday School. Ali was an avid reader and was also very adventurous. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed kayaking, swimming, hiking, and camping. Her favorite places were the mountains and the beach, where God’s beautiful artwork is gloriously displayed. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Second only to her love for her Lord, Ali loved her family. As one of eleven children, Ali adored spending time with her siblings and did so whenever possible. She had sixteen wonderful years with her husband Drew. Ali was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest sister, Pam McMillan. She is survived by her husband Drew; son, Phillip Surrett; grandson, Sterling Surrett who was her greatest joy in life; siblings, Nick Pizzuti (Karen), Anthony Pizzuti (Susan), Gregory Pizzuti (Leslie), Trisha Bockus, Tammy Barkley (James), Angela Black, Jinny Wilson (Joel), Theresa Bailey (Curtis), Mary Brewer (Robert), as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. Freeman will be held at 11 o’clock, Thursday, April 21st at First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia, SC, with The Rev. David H. Lauten officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Jackson Hall of First Presbyterian Church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her memory to Columbia Area Mental Health, 2715 Colonial Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29203.
