    Mrs. Barbara C. Wiggins

    August 5, 1935 - March 27, 2021

    Barbara (Bobbie) Conder Wiggins went to be with our Lord on March 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. Born on August 5,1935 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late William Wilson Conder, Sr. and Margaret Puckett Conder. Bobbie grew up in Columbia and graduated from Eau Claire High School. She attended Winthrop College. She married her college sweetheart, Benjamin Stinson Wiggins on March 17, 1956. A member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church for over 60 years, Bobbie was trained and served as a Stephen Minister and was a member of the Wesley Sunday School class. She worked at the church as Membership Secretary from 1982 through the mid 90’s. Bobbie’s steadfast faith and love for her Savior Jesus Christ shined through her. A loving mother, grandmother and homemaker, Bobbie was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially over the holidays. She was an accomplished pianist who played by ear and often entertained her family, making times spent at her home memorable. Bobbie was an avid bridge player and and a member of multiple bridge clubs. She was a dedicated sports fan and supporter of Clemson Athletics, where her husband graduated. She loved nature, writing poetry and was a member of Columbia Antique Study Club. Along with her parents and her husband of 56 years, Bobbie was also predeceased by her brother William Wilson Conder, Jr.. She is survived by her son, Mike Wiggins, wife Chris of Charlotte, daughter Lauri VanDeusen, husband John of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Ryan Wiggins, Ashton VanDeusen and Caroline VanDeusen and 2 nephews, Tim Conder and Rob Conder. The family would like to thank Betty Addison for her extraordinary care, friendship and support throughout Bobbie’s illness. Bobbie considered Betty her angel on earth. Also a special thank you to the caregivers with First Light Home Care and Heart of Hospice who provided outstanding assistance over the past month. The family will receive visitors at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Ex., Columbia, South Carolina, 29223 on Saturday, April 3rd at 10am. A graveside service will follow at 12pm Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave., Columbia, SC with Rev. Joel Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trenholm Road Methodist Church, 3401 Trenholm Rd, Columbia, SC 29204.
