    Mrs. Bonnie Martin

    June 24, 1944 - December 18, 2021

Bonnie Creech Martin, 77, of Columbia, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, drew her last breath of life at her home on Saturday, December 18, 2021, in the arms of her loving son. Born on June 24, 1944, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late, James Robert Creech and Mary Frances Jeffares Creech. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Creech Peake. Her dearly beloved survivors are her son, Jay Martin; children she loved as her own, Stephen Martin, Edward Martin, Craig Martin, Melody Taylor and their families; sister, Margaret Creech DuBard and husband William L. DuBard; Jay’s uncle, Judge Melvin Maurer, seven nieces and nephews. Bonnie loved her many friends dearly which include but are not limited to, Barbara Peterson, Jean Wilson Lang, Rae Simpson, Bob Ellison, Ginny Rega, Susan Speight, Pam Shealy, Shelba Howard, Ann Elliott, The Deas family and children D’Avion and Dorien, and Joseph and Alice Hood and children. Mrs. Martin taught Youth Sunday School and served on the Boards at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church and Christ Unity Church. She also worked for almost 35 years as a Certified Public Accountant. Bonnie, along with her son, was a coinventor of a US Patented family home design which makes it fast and easy to get the laundry done. Her passion was drawing house plans to help families have more quality time with each other and loved ones. She was often heard quoting her favorite Bible verses, “I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full” and “In this world you will have trouble but take heart for I have overcome the world”. The funeral service will be held at 12 o’clock, Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o’clock. All are welcome to attend, however, masks and social distancing practices are encouraged. A livestream of the service will be available by visiting Ms. Bonnie’s tribute page at ShivesFuneralHome.com. A private burial will be held at Greenhaven Preserve, Eastover, SC.
