Carol Jean Hail Fischbach, 79, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 15, 2018. Born in Cinncinati, OH to the late Charles Hail and Della Plumber Hail, she was married to Woody Fischbach for 42 years. Carol worked as a paralegal. A member of St. David's Episcopal Church, she was involved in various ministries of the church and was considered a spiritual rock and help for those who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Jerold Gregory Bope of Jamestown, OH, Mervin C. Fischbach of Marietta, GA, Michael C. Fischbach of Charleston, SC; brother, Charles Stephen Hail of Cincinnati OH, and sister, Judy Frances Forrester, Cincinnati, OH. Preceding her in death are her parents; former husband, Jerold G. Bope; and sister, Betty R. Noble.

A service will be held 10:30 o'clock, Friday, July 20th, at St. David's Episcopal Church, with The Rev. William M. "Scotty" Brock officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:30 o'clock. Inurnment will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, 605 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
