SFC Cirilo Santana-Alicea, US Army (Ret.), died at home on Sunday, September 6, 2020. He was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico to Pedro Santana and Domitila Alicea. He served and retired from the United States Army to include tours in Korea and Vietnam. SFC Santana-Alicea earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina and was a member of Saint John Neumann Catholic Church.
He was predeceased by his sons Efrain Santana, Gilberto Santana and Edwin Santana from Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Ana Santana from Columbia; his son, Norberto Santana; and daughter-in-law, Gladys Rivera from San Juan, Puerto Rico; his daughters-in-law, Dorothy Santana, Aleida Santana and Sharon Santana from Columbia; his grandsons, Ariel Santana from San Antonio, Texas, Norberto Santana from West Virginia, Alejandro Santana from Oregon City, Oregon, Christian Santana from Columbia; his granddaughter, Angelica Maria Santana Thorne and husband Michael Thorne from St. Petersburg, Florida; his great-grandchildren, Arielito Santana and Alyssa Marie Santana from San Antonio, Texas, Cash, Remy and Ripp from West Virginia, Jacob from Florida; and his great-great granddaughter, Enya from San Antonio, Texas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 o'clock, Thursday, September 10th, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. C. Alexander McDonald officiating. Final Commendation and Farewell prayers will be said at Fort Jackson National Cemetery following the service. A rosary will be held at 6 o'clock, Wednesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with a visitation to follow until 8 o'clock.
