Denese Antionette Scott, 70, of Columbia, went home to be with our Lord on Monday, August 10, 2020. Born in Los Angeles, CA, on September 8, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Roland Stanford and Katie Wesson Whitmore. Denese graduated from Manual Arts High School and spent her life uplifting youth while working as a Teacher's Assistant in the Public School System.

Survivors include her sister, Aneesah Hameen; her brother, Jeffery Whitmore (Monique); daughters, Christine DeLoatch, and Jennifer Scott (Adrian); a son, Charles Watson, Jr. (Denise); grandsons, Moshe and Aidan.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by all her aunts and uncles (The Divine Nine).

The funeral service for Ms. Scott will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Ms. Scott will be available for viewing from 12 noon until 2 pm prior to the service. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the family's concern for your safety, the service will be held outdoors, weather permitting. A face mask is still required.
